Pins

The end of the clamping bolt is called a pin. Originally the pins were made of ivory, hence their name in German (Beinchen). Today they are made of silver, gold and ebony. Baroque bows use several types of hardwood, snake wood for example. To compliment the pin, a small ornamental piece of ivory was used in the past. Today mother-of-pearl is used. See here.
